How to help my little brother self esteem?
So I found out my little brother might have LD (learning disability) although we’re not sure what type yet since he hasn’t taken a test yet to diagnose it. I was doing some online research and I read part of the lack of wanting to try to work on problems, is the child lack of confidence in themselves, because they can’t figure it out as well as others. My brother is painfully sensitive, so frustration and other things get to him easily. In about 1 and 1/2 years I’m going to college, and it’ll just be him at home, since he’s the youngest (8). I want to know how can I boost his confidence in himself, how to teach him to deal with being teased sometimes, and how to grow some thick skin. Please & Thank you!
Honestly STUPID,IGNORANT, BULL**** COMMENTS ARE NOT APPRECIATED. SO IF YOU HAVE NOTHING USEFUL TO SAY, GO FIND SOME OTHER CRAP TO POST ON? K.
He doesn’t have ADD??!? He isn’t at the level that he should be, he’s very slow, he has a learning disability which makes it harder for him to understand things he learns in class.
YAHooHater or whatever – your answer wastes everyone’s time and you should get off YA before someone kicks you off.
Now…
I think that the learning disability is nothing to be ashamed of. I have been diagnosed with ADD and know that it is a very common thing that people aren’t all shy about. Even the most attractive and famous movie stars have it. You wouldn’t make fun of someone for having the flu or the common cold right? It’s kind of like that. There are ways of accomodating and adapting to the point where ADD is no longer a disturbance in your life.
I mean there are people with more serious illnesses like bipolar II, schizophrenia, etc… but nobody in their own right mind would make fun of those people. Rather people are afraid of the unknown that they don’t understand, but ADD is so common that everyone more or less sympathizes. So tell him that there is nothing to worry about. Tell him that it is important to believe that Jesus Christ exists and knows every one of his troubles and will take care of him throughout life even though it may seem so opposite sometimes, God wins in the end always.
